Airport-to-City

2–15 minutes

The most common helicopter transfer. Land at a major airport, clear customs, and board a waiting helicopter directly on the tarmac — bypassing up to two hours of city traffic.

In São Paulo, helicopter transfers reduced commute times from 3 hours to 8 minutes. In New York, JFK-to-Manhattan takes 6 minutes versus 90+ by car. In Tokyo, Narita-to-Shinjuku drops from 75 minutes to 18.

Remote & Island Access

The Only Way In

Some of the world's most exclusive destinations are accessible only by helicopter. Remote alpine lodges in New Zealand, private island resorts in the Maldives, and mountain retreats in the Swiss Alps rely entirely on rotor access.

These transfers are often included in the resort package. For independent travel, VIPMAKKI coordinates the helicopter as part of the complete journey — from international flight through to helipad arrival at your final destination.

Popular routes: Maldives resorts, New Zealand lodges, Swiss Alps, Norwegian fjords

Scenic & Experience

View-First Travel

A helicopter journey that is the destination itself. Fly over the Grand Canyon at sunrise, trace the Amalfi Coast, orbit Mount Everest, or touch down on a glacier in Iceland for a champagne toast before continuing.

These experiences are often combined with a practical transfer — the scenic route is the direct route. VIPMAKKI routinely arranges scenic helicopter journeys that serve as both transport and a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Popular routes: Grand Canyon, Amalfi Coast, Iceland glaciers, Everest, Great Barrier Reef

Helicopter Types & What to Expect

Most helicopter transfers use light or intermediate twin-engine aircraft seating 4–6 passengers. The Airbus H125 (formerly AS350), Bell 429, and Leonardo AW109 are industry standards for transfer work — reliable, quiet, and comfortable.

Passenger Capacity

Light helicopters seat 4–5 passengers plus pilot. Intermediate twins seat 6–7. For larger groups, VIPMAKKI arranges multiple aircraft or a medium helicopter like the Sikorsky S-76 (up to 12 passengers).

Luggage

Helicopters have limited luggage capacity compared to fixed-wing aircraft. Soft-sided bags are preferred. VIPMAKKI coordinates ground transport for excess luggage when needed — your bags meet you at your destination.

Noise & Comfort

All passengers wear noise-cancelling headsets with microphones for in-flight communication. Modern helicopters are significantly quieter than their reputation suggests. The cabin is climate-controlled.
